Although four days have gone by, the apparel workers of Jara Jeans are yet to receive their salary arrears, reports sarabangla.net.
Rezwan Selim, BGMEA director (labour) on Wednesday night told Sarabangla that the owner could not sell out machineries yet.
Earlier in the afternoon, the BGMEA official said, “A party went to the apparel factory with Tk 1.20 lakh and agreed to purchase the machineries. Hope that the matter will be resolved amicably.”
Jara Jeans, an apparel factory located at Mirpur area in Dhaka is going to be closed down after failing to obtain purchase order.
The closure will render as many 800 workers jobless.Nupur Akhtar Mamtaj, an operator of Jara Jeans said that the factory owner was dilly-dallying over their salary arrears.
Md Salauddin Mia, Officer-in-Charge of Shah Ali police station said that the matter would be resolved amicably.
There are five owners of the factory including Golam Mostafa, Reza and Reazul.
Previously, the workers of the apparel factory took to the streets and blocked the road demanding their salary arrears.
