[2] Six people were killed and three others were injured in the shootings in the remote Baghmara area, about 17km from the district town, on Tuesday morning. Bandarban District Superintendent of Police Jerin Akhtar said allegations of conflict and domination by local hill tribes would be a priority in the police investigation.
[3] Analysts say hill groups have repeatedly split over conflicts of interest, leading to an increase in armed clashes and killings in all three hill districts. When the Santu Larma-led Jana Sanghati Samiti signed a Hill Peace Agreement with the Awami League government 23 years ago, a new party, the UPDF, was formed against the Jana Sanghati Samiti.
[4] These two teams have now split into four teams. Apart from this, it is alleged that the Arakan Liberal Party and the Mugabe Party are active in Bandarban district in the border area with Myanmar. The leaders of the Jana Sanghati Samiti think that the army camps have not been closed and the issue of land rights has not been resolved. And that is why the parties are divided and clashing at different times.
[5] However, Tuku Talukder, a human rights activist in Rangamati district, sees the situation differently. He thinks that now there is no such thing as an ideal, they are magnifying the conflict of interest by putting the banner of the party in front of them. That is why the situation is getting worse and worse, he said.
