DOT Desk: There is a growing crowd of tourists on a drawn-out holiday in the St. Martin of Cox’s Bazar, known as Coconut Ginger. St Martin’s is now lively with domestic and foreign tourists, reports Daily Bangladesh.
Hotel authorities say more than 5000 tourists are staying at the resort – more than two hundred hotels on the island. Most of them booked the hotel in early December. All hotels have been booked till 31 December. Those who are arriving without a booking, have to fall in trouble.Tourists said everything is expensive in St. Martin. As it is the tourist season, traders have increased prices. Hotel fares have also increased by 3-4 times. St. Martin UP chairman Noor Ahmed said tourist arrivals have increased since December 20.
About 5,000 tourists are coming to the island every day, which is two times more than last season. Passengers are not compiling within eight ships.Teknaf Model Police Station Officer in Charge(OC) Pradeep Kumar Das said there was a police outpost in St. Martin. Besides, there are naval police.
The police are beside the tourists for any problems.
Mohammad Saiful Islam, UNO of Teknaf said, “It is our responsibility to provide security to the tourists who come to St. Martin. If any ship, hotel, restaurant authorities violate the directive, strict action will be taken.”
