According to the government’s malaria eradication and Aedes-borne disease control programme, 13 districts of the country are malaria-prone.
Among them, three districts of Chittagong Hill Tracts Khagrachari, Rangamati and Bandarban are at high risk. More than 90 percent of the country’s total malaria infections occur in the three hill districts.
In Khagrachari, the prevalence of malaria has increased slightly. Among the 9 upazilas of the district, the number of malaria patients is high in remote areas of Dighinala, Matiranga and Lakshmichari upazilas, the health department said.
