[2] The high voltage DC power connection cable of the country’s second submarine landing station pulled from the sea has come out from under the ground at Kuakata beach. The cable, which runs just east of Zero Point on Kuakata Beach, could be cut off and all landing station services will be shut down if gets damaged for any reason. It is believed that the cable came out at around 2pm on Thursday (August 20) as a result of sand erosion caused by an unusual tidal wave, reports Somoy TV News.[3] Tariqul Islam, Deputy General Manager, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BCPCL) said, this is a natural disaster. Upon receiving the news, they went to the spot and observed. The matter has been reported to the higher authorities. If the weather is favorable, the renovation work will start on Friday or Saturday. Currently, security guards have been posted there for round-the-clock surveillance, reports Jamuna TV.
