Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque advised that, all the police officers at the field levels should take on ultimate measures for stopping the spread of drugs in the society & its abuse. Police should also take the initiatives to see that, the drug addicts get treatments & get rehabilitated properly.AKM Shahidul Haque said these during his speech in the Police Headquarters’ Quarterly Conference of July-September 2017. Police commissioner, Range DIG, Police Super and other high ranking officials of DMP & Police HQ, all were present at the event. Police HQ DIG (Crime Management) Abu Hasan presented the quarterly HQ reports in the event. The report showed that, number of filed cases have increased by 3.18% than last quarter. Since, more criminals & smugglers were captured in the events of narcotic activities, during this period. Meantime, robberies, acid-attack, traffic accidents & police related crimes have decreased. But, piracy, murder, kidnapping & women-abuse cases have increased. 409 cars were stolen and 297 was retrieved by the Police. so far. Several decisions regarding traffic laws were finalized at the meeting as well. The traffic polices were specially ordered not allow any running vehicles in the opposite lane. Police IG also unwrapped 16 police guideline books at the event. Later, he signed & distributed APOs for 2017-2018 fiscal year, to IGP SB, RAB, PBI, Naval Police, Industrial Police, Tourist Police, Chief Rangers & others.
