[2] The Election Commission (EC) has rejected the BNP’s demand of postponing the by-elections of Bogra-1 and Jashore-6 constituencies to be held on July 14, reports Sara Bangla.
[3] Yesterday noon, EC Secretary Md. Alamgir told reporters this in his office at the Election Building. [4] Mentioning that any person in the state can file a case for violating the constitution if they do not vote by July 14, the EC secretary said, “The punishment for violating the constitution is very severe and can even include the death penalty. Therefore, neither the law ministry nor the commission will take this responsibility, no one will take it.” The EC secretary further said, “The BNP has demanded reconsideration of the election date in their application. But they know very well that there is no chance of postponing the election. Because now after the election, a case can be filed against the Election Commission for violating the constitution.”
Yesterday, after meeting the Election Commissioner Md. Alamgir, the BNP demanded postponement of the upcoming Bogra-1 (Sariakandi-Sonatala) and Jashore-6 (Keshabpur) by-elections.
