President M Abdul Hamid expressed his shock and sorrow at the death of eminent journalist Shahriar Shahid, managing editor (ME) of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
In a condolence message yesterday he prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Shahriar Shahid breathed his last at 1:50 pm yesterday at the Apollo Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment at its coronary care unit (CCU) since November 14 following a heart attack.
He was 55.
Son of now-defunct English daily Bangladesh Times former editor late AKM Shahidul Haque, Shahrir Shahid is survived by his wife, only son and a host of relatives and admirers.
