[2] The Ministry of Education has issued a warning not to conduct academic and educational activities of private universities in rented houses or establishments, reports barta24.com.
[3] It is learned that the University Grants Commission (UGC) was given comprehensive instructions in this regard on Thursday. The directive was given in a memorandum in the Secondary and Higher Education Department under the Ministry of Education, reports risingbd.com.
[4] The directive, published on the website of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education yesterday, said that according to the Private University Act, no activities can be carried out in a rented house or establishment even if a private university has a permanent campus on its own land. Therefore, it is requested to take necessary steps in this regard so that no administrative and academic activities can be conducted.
The directive further said that educational activities can be carried out on the land already purchased subject to permission. However, it should be at least one acre in Dhaka and Chittagong metropolitan areas and at least two acres in other areas without additional, intact and liability free land.
