A newborn baby was found lying on the steps of the circuit house of the Kotwali Police Station in Chittagong city. Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin provided that a police officer had seen the child at around 12 PM yesterday wrapped in polythene, he stated, “When he informed the police station, a team of ours went to the scene. The infant was rescued and then taken to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital. The baby is healthy now.”
The child’s family has been identified, her father, Manik Chakraborty is a teacher at the Chittagong Grammar School (CGS) and her mother is a housewife. Manik provided that her daughter is only 40 days old, reports Sara Bangla.
The father had filed a police report alleging that, that very day when he had left for school, his wife and infant daughter were home. The baby’s mother had gone downstairs to buy some medicine, and when she returned the child was nowhere to be found. When the baby was later found in front of the circuit house, the parents were taken to the hospital where they positively identified their child.
The OC stated that, “This whole incident is mysterious. All aspects of this will be thoroughly investigated, starting from the parent’s stories as well as the person or persons who were responsible for abandoning the child in front of the circuit house in Mehdibagh.”
