Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondal passed an order in a Dhaka court where it granted police a total 10 days remand in custody for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) ward councillor and Awami League leader Moinul Haque Manju charging in two cases, reports Daily Sun.
The remand order was passed yesterday for this Awami League leader after hearing a plea to question Manju for 14 days in the two cases involving drugs and illegal firearms.
Earlier, RAB filed two separate cases with Wari Police Station against Manju under Narcotics Control and Arms Acts on Thursday night after Manju’s office was raided by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-3) and later he was also arrested on the same day.
Councilor Manju’s name was risen when a special anti-corruption drive started against the leaders and activists of the ruling party Awami League and its associate bodies.
According to the charges, Manju, the DSCC ward councilor of ward-39, was allegedly involved in extortion in Tikatuli’s Rajdhani Super Market, New Super Market, land-grabbing and drug business.
