Desk Report: A Dhaka court yesterday denied bail to a driver and two helpers of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan in a case filed over the death of two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College in a road accident on Airport Road on July 29, reports the daily star.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Nabi passed the order after police produced the accused – driver Jubair Hossain and helpers Mohammad Ripon and Enayet Hossain — before the court on completion of their seven-day remands. The court’s order came after Metropolitan Magistrate Keshob Roy Chowdhury took their statements on completion of their remands.
In his confessional statement, Jubair Hossain admitted that his reckless competition with the other bus to pick up passengers fast had caused the accident.
The magistrate further told The Daily Star that Jubair was sent to jail today following a three-hour long confessional statement.
Meanwhile, no one submitted bail petition on behalf of the other driver, Sohag Ali.
Earlier on August 6, a Dhaka court placed two drivers and helpers of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan on seven days’ remand each, in connection with a case filed over the accident that killed two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College on the city’s Airport Road on July 29.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kaisarul Islam passed the order after Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Qazi Shariful Islam, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced them before the court.
Earlier, on August 1, another court placed Masum Billah, the driver of the bus that hit the students, on a seven-day remand.
The next day, Shahadat Hossain, owner of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan, was also put on a seven-day remand in the same case.
