Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon said that rumors on dengue are spreading too like child lifting rumors, rejecting media reports on estimated number of country’s dengue patient, reports the Daily Sun.
While inaugurating the “Mosquito Killing and Cleanliness Week” at Manik Mia Avenue in the city, he claimed it.
Earlier, two days before a national daily published a report on dengue claiming that 85% of country’s dengue patient doesn’t visit doctors and only 2% of those who get admitted to hospitals being affected by dengue comes to the notice of the government.
The report also claimed that the dengue patient’s number has exceeded over three lakh.
The report also said, “The estimated number of dengue patients has been found from analyzing data of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)” adding that, “The World Health Organization (WHO) has cooperated the DGHS to get this estimated number.”
Answering reporter’s question about the media report, Sayeed Khokon said, “The information that three lakh people have been affected by dengue fever is imaginary.”
He also warned of action against those who are spreading rumors on dengue fever and said that, “It is similar to child-lifting rumors. The government will deal with it strictly.”
