BNP party leaders yesterday brought out an impromptu rally demanding the release of the imprisoned BNP chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in the capital. It was led by the senior joint secretary of the party, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, yesterday morning, reports Bangla.
They started the procession from Kalabagan bus stand to the Labaid turning point at ScienceLab, according to a statement signed by the party’s Deputy Secretary, Mohammad Munir Hossain.
Rizvi said, ‘former PM, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s physical ailment is steadily declining. The government is trying to deceive the people in the name of treatment. Ignoring the demands of the people, Khaleda Zia was not given any privilege of treatment at any special hospital.
He also said, ‘despite the deterioration of Khaleda Zia’s physical condition, the people of the government is saying ‘Khaleda Zia is doing well.’
Mentioning the PM, Rizvi stated, people are now anxious about the rising of the prices of essential commodities, all of you are failing in managing the country.
Dhaka District BNP general secretary Abu Ashfaq, BNP vice-president Mahmudur Rahman Sumon of Narayanganj district and other Chatra Dal-Jubo Dal leaders participated the rally.
The leaders of the party chanted slogans demanding the release of Khaleda Zia. Moreover, they claimed that the cases filed against the acting chairman of the party, Tarique Rahman, were false and should be withdrawn.
