[2] The already high beef prices are continuing to rise in Ramadan. Prior, beef was sold somewhere between Tk 550 and Tk 580 kg, but now it is Tk 600 per kg everywhere, reports Somoy news TV.
[3] A tour of numerous markets in the capital saw most traders selling beef at Tk 600 per kg, some were even being sold at Tk 620 per kg.
[4] The price of beef is usually fixed by the two Dhaka city corporations every year during Ramadan. However, this was not done this year, for which buyers complained that the traders were setting unreasonable prices.
[5] Vendors, on the other hand, say cows are not coming to the capital properly as the government has declared a general holiday to curb the pandemic. The cows that are coming have a higher transportation cost, increasing their market value. For this reason, the meat was being sold at higher prices.
