The High Court has ordered to send to jail 27 brick kiln owners in Dinajpur on charges of fraudulency the HC’s order to run the brick kilns including local Awami League and BNP leaders, upazila chairman and journalists and former parliamentarians.
Judge Ahmed Bhuiyan issued the order following a hearing in Dinajpur District and Sessions Judge’s court yesterday. On the same day, the judge granted bail on behalf of the accused. Among the accused are Dinajpur district BNP convener and former MP AJM Rezanul Haque, Phulbari Upazila Awami League Organizing Secretary and Upazila Chairman Ataur Rahman Milton and Dinajpur representative of Jamuna TV Mahfuzur Rahman.
Environment, Forest and Climate Minister Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury Directed the Deputy Commissioner to shut down the brick kilns after the locals suffered from various health problems due to the kiln’s pollution. However, the owners were operating the bricks fields making the fake order of HC and fake documents.
Azizul Islam Juglu was the lawyer for the government in the case and Advocate Nuruzzaman Jahani, who prosecuted the case.
