Kabir Humayun: BNP yesterday claimed that ruling Awami League was now depending on ‘machine’ (EVM) losing confidence on people.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the remarks at a news conference at the party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office, reports New Age.
He categorically asked the Election Commission to shun the initiative to use of ‘democracy demolishing’ and ‘misleading’ Electronic Voting Machines in the next parliament polls likely to be held in December.
The secretary general warned that people at any cost would resist the ‘ill-attempt’ of the commission.
He cautioned that each paisa to be spent for purchasing the controversial machines would be considered as ‘personal liability’ of top persons of the Election Commission.
BNP standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mahbubur Rahman, Abdul Moyeen Khan and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, among others, were present.
