Actor-turned-lawmaker Faruk is reportedly embroiled in a huge amount of debt. The veteran and multiple award-winning actor Akbar Hossain Pathan, better known by his stage name Faruk, is burdened with debt to the tune of Tk 5,500 crore, reports Bangla daily Inqilab.
The veteran actor himself talked to the media over the issue. He has dropped a hint that he was implicated.
He himself is in the dark about it. He borrowed loan from a bank to set up a textile mill during BNP-Jamaat regime.
Recently the actor told a media outlet that he owns a textile mill which he set up with all his money.
He told the media that he wanted to do something for his family. Because, he had land property. However, the bank officials dilly-dallied on lending him money. There was u-turn after the carnage of August 21. The bank officials told him to construct building on the entire land.
The actor claimed that the bank sent him a letter mentioning that he is indebted with Tk 5,500 crore. The incident happened after Al-led government came to power in 2013.
