Parliamentary committee of the Ministry of Fisheries & Livestock had decided to legalize the commercial farming of Chitra Deer, in one of their meetings earlier this year. With the notion of decreasing the illegal poaching & meat smuggling of the deer in Sundarbans. Also, Chitra deer reproduces & grows rapidly. Hence, commercializing its farming can greatly aid to the eradication of poverty, create a new source of national protein supply & add to the yearly government remittance, said of the parliamentary committee president Mir Showkat Ali Badsha. Unfortunately, Department of Livestock faced judicial difficulties in initiating this plan. Since, Chitra Deer Domestication Law 2009 prohibits such actions, by the Ministry of Environment & Forests. Finally, after about 4 months of the first initiation from the Department of Livestock, both the ministries might finally meet together to reach a collaborative solution. Revision & addition to the previous law will take place.
