334 labor movement in a year for wages: Survey

About 334 movements have been held in the country demanding the minimum wages. Of them, 123 movements had happened in the readymade garment sector.
The Secretary, Ministry of Labor and Employment said the government is rushing to a developed country by 2041. We are working towards the goal. In this case, all should work together. Society is changing very fast. In addition, a favorable environment for action is also being created. However, automation could be being trimmed a number of workers in the future. However, survival will be a major challenge with proof of talent and competence.
These data were presented in a survey at a meeting of the Directorate of Inspection of Factories and Institutions yesterday.
According to the survey, 46 movements held in the media and publication sector. There were 32 movements in the transport sector, 16 in education sector, 16 in the jute industry, 14 in the health sector, 9 in electricity, 7 in the city corporation and 6 in the tea industry.
Additionally, there were 148 movement has been placed for ‘dissatisfaction of workers in rights and their various demands. These include claims for arrears of wages, demand for various rights, closure of factories and low wages.
Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment KM Ali Azam was present as the chief guest at the meeting.
Secretary KM Ali Azam said the relationship between the labor-owners and the government needs to be further expanded. No one has to think of an opponent each other. Everyone must act as a complement to each other. In the future many will be timed due to automation, and then survival of workers will become a major challenge.
The meeting was further chaired by the inspector general of the Directorate of Factories and Establishment Shibnath Roy, Deputy Inspector General of the Department Mehedi Hasan and Joint Director General Joynal Abedin were present among others.
