[2] They are staying in hotels in a 14-day institutional quarantine as part of government-mandated hygiene. Many will pass Eid without the contact of family members. However, on the day of Eid, they have taken initiative to provide improved food including semai, polao and meat.[3] According to Jessore district administration sources, Bangladeshis returning to the country through Benapole port on May 1 and later will have to stay at the hotel on Eid day. As many as 391 passengers have to stay at the hotel on Eid day. And 101 people are getting holiday on Eid day. If Eid is one day before (subject to moon sighting on 13 May), they will also have Eid at the hotel. [4] According to the Jessore district administration, 2,899 Bangladeshi passport holders have entered the country through Benapole land port in the last 15 days (April 28 to May 10).
Of these, one thousand 181 people are staying in Jessore district. 48 people have been kept in different hotels in Jessore city, 438 in Benapole hotel, 140 in Gazi Dargah, 101 in Jessore Chest Disease Hospital, three in other clinics and 32 in Jessore General Hospital Corona unit including 13 positive people. The district administration has requisitioned 29 hotels in Jessore district to keep the returning patients in quarantine.
[5] Jessore Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan said that among the passport holders who came through Benapole port on or after May 1, those who are in the hotel quarantine; they have to celebrate Eid at the hotel. They have to stay in their hotel on the day of Eid for the needs of themselves, their relatives and the people and the country. Not only them, but also the officials and employees involved in quarantine or corona prevention activities have to celebrate Eid outside. As a result, those who are in quarantine will be able to celebrate the next Eid with their relatives when they return home healthy.
