By now, all of Bangladesh is aware of every little detail about the Xunaed VS. Nurullah incident. The video uploaded from Xunaed’s account,
later on by many other Facebook pages too, caused a social media uproar, and the entire Bangladeshi Facebook population was out to get Xunaed’s head.
A recent news report confirmed that the police have arrested Xunaed, for the public abuse of Nurullah.
While it is true that Xunaed committed a felony and he deserved the arrest, was he the only one who did so?
Did the police even properly investigate the entire incident? What about the person who filmed the video? Was it not an offense to stand there documenting a crime while it happened, and doing nothing about it? He could have easily put the phone in his pocket and step in to the fight to pull his friend out of it, but he did not.
We all saw in the video that about four to five grown up people walked by the crime-scene.
They took one look at the fight and simply walked away while Xunaed beat up a seemingly innocent boy. Why is their ignorance, not being considered as a crime?
Now, let us talk about Nurullah a bit.
The entire thing happened because Xunaed got to know, from some unknown source, that Nurullah had verbally abused and name-called another girl.
Did adequate investigation go into Nurullah’s case? I believe that it was critical for the police to find out if Nurullah actually did say anything about the girl, because if he did, then he should also be penalized in some way, on the grounds of verbal abuse.
Hence, I cannot help but question the judicial system of Bangladesh for it seems evident that they have not put much though in to the entire case.
