DOT Desk: Two readymade garment factories in Savar, on the outskirts Dhaka, have been declared closed till August 31 following yesterday’s clash between police and workers,reports The Daily Star.
The factories are HR Textile Mills Limited and Fashion Knit Ltd under Pride Group located in Ulail area.Several copies of the closing notice were seen hanging at the gates of the two factories, our Savar correspondent reports.The factories will remain closed till August 31 from today as the situation went “out of control” of the authorities, said the notice signed by General Manager (administration) of the factories Manirul Islam.
The dues of July will be paid to the workers before the factories reopen, the notice also said. The factories’ Security Officer Shafiqul Islam also confirmed the closure to The Daily Star.Our correspondent tried to contact GM Manirul over phone for his comments, but the mobile phone was found switched off today. Yesterday, at least 20 workers of the two factories were injured during the clash with the Industrial Police. The clash broke out after the workers blocked a road, demanding their arrears.
