There is a severe lack of good governance in almost all areas of our national life. This situation prevails everywhere in education, health, and environment. But the most terrible situation in the transport sector is prevailing. There is no good governance. There is no such initiative to maintain law and order. The authorities are very indifferent. Bus companies, owners, drivers, and helpers are almost all illiterate. They are unaware of it, and they are not enthusiastic to obey the laws. There is no pressure on them. Bus drivers have no proper training and their licenses are issued following proper formalities. Due to corruption, these laws cannot be applied. Political power and administration are very weak because of this chaotic situation on the road. The ordinary people are not too aware as well. Many times they cross the road risking their lives. But if there was proper surveillance of law enforcement agencies in this regard, they could have been compelled to conform the law. And people will not cross the road without the zebra crossing or foot overbridge.
