Tomorrow, Union Porishod elections will be held in 54 unions. EC have taken all the necessary preparations, announced EC Sub-Secretary Farhad Ahammad Khan in a report.

Last published guidelines of EC mentioned, last EUP Election candidate paper submitting date was 27 April, candidates were verified by 30 April and vote collection to be held by 23 May.

Peoples of Shikarpur Union of Barisal, had been protesting to arrange a municipal election in their area for a long time. They are now very glad that, the municipal election will be held there after 14 years, on 23 May.

156 other municipal elections were arranged on 16 April. Majority of the Awami League candidates won in that election by majority of the vote counts. But, this set in motion for several unfortunate events of attacks and arson, by the loosing candidates of other parties. About, 50 were injured and several establishments were vandalized.
