Sofian Khan: Secretary-General of UN Antonio Guterres and President of World Bank Group Jim Yong Kim are scheduled to visit Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar while pressure on Myanmar mounts following the ‘ethnic cleansing’ in the Rakhine State.
International Criminal Court judges gave the country a deadline to respond to a prosecution request that the court should exercise jurisdiction over the alleged crimes.
Both chiefs are expected to arrive in Dhaka on June 30 and are scheduled to visit Rohingya camps on July 2.
Previously, the Finance Minister said that the two are to visit the camps in Cox’s Bazar during the visit.
WB is planning to give between $400 and $500 million in aid in phases for Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar, Muhith said.
