Kabir Humayun: A student of United International University (UIU) was allegedly abducted from Dhaka.
The kidnappers have demanded Tk 10 lakh ransom from his family for his release, reports The Daily Star.
According to family sources, Enamul Haque Olen, 23, an Electrical and Electronic Engineering student of the university, went traceless Tuesday.
He started out from his home in Mohammadpur in the morning and was never heard from since, said his mother Fatema Chowdhury. His mobile phone was unreachable.
Around 10pm last night, a phone call came from Olen’s personal number and an unknown voice demanded Tk 10 lakh as ransom for his release, she said.
Fatema Chowdhury filed a diary with Badda Police Station yesterday, Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam said, adding, “Police are trying to catch the abductors.”
