This upcoming Wednesday (March 9th, 2016) will see a total solar eclipse, with the eclipse being greatest at 1:58 UTC. The moon will be at its closest to the sun on the day as it will reach lunar perigree.
Parts of the Pacific Ocean and Indonesia will see a total eclipse of the sun, starting at sunrise over Sumatra and ending at sunset north of Hawaii. It will start at sunrise around the Sumatra area and it will end at sunset near northern Hawaii. The sun will rise partially eclipsed in several parts of India and Nepal.
The totality of the eclipse will range between one and a half to a bit more than four minutes at each location. However, the time between western most location observing its beginning and the eastermost location witnessing the eclipse end will be more than three hours. The totality will have a path of over 14160 km (8800 miles) long and 156 km (97 miles) wide. People along the path will be able to witness the solar corona only while the sun is entirely covered by the moon.
