Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) today suggested to build an independent commission to ensure proper health care services at private hospitals terminating all kinds of irregularities.Executive Director of TIB Dr Iftekharuzzaman came up with the recommendation during a press conference titled ‘Private Health Service: Challenge for Good Governance and Way Out’ at its Dhanmondi office in the capital. According to the key note paper presented by TIB programme Manager Taslima Akhter and M Julkarnain, commission based trade was going on at most of the private health care services where government and private doctors, assistants, family planning workers, receptionists and brokers are taking 25-50% of the commission. Service recipients also made complain against brokers, that they forced them to visit the hospitals by giving wrong information, the report said. Dr Iftekharuzzaman called for turning the draft act of monitoring and controlling the private hospitals into a complete law. He also suggested to bring the hospitals under Right to Information Act.
