Nashrat Arshiyana Chowdhury:
The education ministry is advised to divide itself into three sub divisions. Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid stated that this proposition is absurd. He said these at a discussion at Daily Our Time Office on Monday.
Education minister briefed the whole situation of our education system. He also talked about how a student should be a good citizen of the society and a philanthropist. He also talked about the importance of technical education. The millennium development goal which was set up for 2015 was obtained in 2012. Assigning of teachers, subject wise teacher grooming, training of teachers etc were done during this time. He also claimed that amount of work done at his ministry is more than any other ministry of the country.
Considering the work he stated that the division is needed but not the way it was proposed. The primary education should be a separate division. Then he added what will happen to class VI to X and asked should they be under different divisions too. But like the most other developed countries we need a higher education division to maintain this huge pile of work. If the proposed divisions aren’t planned, it will create problems.
The minister also said, “If the ministry does get divided into three divisions it will be under one minister but three secretaries will be assigned to each division.”
