The lockdown does not make sense in my mind unless we are able to implement it on everyone. It is totally unexceptable that someone is plucking tea leaves for us at this strange time. Or someone is making a fucking bikini! As everyday passes we get more reality checks into what is important and what is not. The privilege to be able to stay home and not go to work or be able to live a considerably comfortable life.
I get that hard lined actions are needed and an economy is hard to sustain. But what use is that economy to my people if it cannot help them in a time of emotional turmoil and major health risks.
These people who do such essential work for the country and economy are not at all protected by the system they serve. And that is total bs.
The people who work in the RMG sector, the tea estate workers, every other day worker are pushed to their last straw. They have been threatened to either leave work or keep working.
Either they have to protest, which includes the risk of losing future scopes of work, or go to work every day. With the impending risks of the virus and totally heart wrenching sadness of helplessness.
On one side we are thanking doctors and the army for being in the frontline and risking their lives and on the other hand we are pushing a huge chunck of the population to work. For what????? Your clothes? Your tea? Your non essential bs. Think about every choice you make as a consumer. Your choices drive the world towards unnecessary things. Also the construction workers are back.
