Hazaribag Tannery Owners are claiming that, Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) had been fooling the court and conspiring with the foreign organizations. By cutting off their gas, electricity and water supply, they are depriving the workers & owners of their basic human rights.
Therefore, they demanded court-justice for BSCIC’s human rights violation. That occurred, due to BSCIC’s utter careless poor administration. Protect Leather Industries Unity Council expressed these at a conference seminar, at a community center in the capital, on yesterday.
Bangladesh Tannery Association President Shahin Ahmed brought some of very sensitive matters. He mentioned, they have invested 2500 crores taka since 2013. Still, their plots have not been registered by BSCIC. By law, we are still not the owners.
Banks aren’t giving them loans. They cannot make deals for importing newer machines. All because, BSCIC is influencing everyone and they are being moved to Savar. They also lost 5000 crores taka worth export deal at 2016 Hong-Kong fair, for BSCIC’s ill influence on the foreigners.
On the other hand, Savar industrial area is not even ready or proper for such business. Tanneries are being evicted since they were polluting Buriganaga. But Savar will pollute Dholeshawri river. Also, water clogs up to knees even without rain, on the lands. Again, current condition of Buriganga is due to no CTP plan in Hazaribag. That was promised in 1948.
Including Shahin Ahmed, 19 other organization leaders expressed their commitment to the cause. To unmask the vile of BSCIC. Then, expose their ill-intentions to everyone. They will continue their protest from the roads to courts.
