In comparison with previous times, India’s concern regarding the Rohingya issue seemed to be more serious this time after Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj made comments on the whole situation. She gave a call to resolve the issue even though she did not express condemnation on the brutal torture carried out on the Rohingyas. I do not know how much pressure Bangladesh applied on Sushma and I also cannot tell how the pressure has affected her but she greatly emphasized that weight has be placed to take the Rohingyas back.We need to wait for some time to see if Sushma’s statement actually reflects whether India is seriously considering the issue. Only the Indian government will be able to prove how severely the Rohingya problem is being reviewed. The Indian government should also understand that Bangladesh is their trusted friend and the people of Bangladesh hope that India helps us to deal with the Rohingyas.
