The other day I posted about my diffability and how I see it as a positive. I truly believe that we are all unique and we each have developed superpowers. As a result of being legally blind, I’ve developed several superpowers that I’d like to share.
I can walk around my house in the dark because I can mentally visualize where things are. I can slow down and be mindful of the moment and focus on the big picture rather than getting overwhelmed with all the details beyond my field of vision.
I can find things better than others because I use deductive reasoning/touch instead of my eyes. Look where it would logically be first and imagine what could have happened. Touch is better than vision when you’re trying to find things in your bag. When I drop a coin or something I pay attention to the sound and I can easily find it with my eyes closed.
I can identify actors by just listening to one sentence of their voice. I can identify people without seeing their face because I categorize them by their hair, build, and posture.
I think they are superpowers but be honest with me if you think they aren’t. I would REALLY love to hear your superpowers. They don’t have to be as a result of a disability. How are you extraordinary?
