NASA wants to make its astronauts as strong as Iron man. They’re placing robotics into gloves to make them super-strong. Researchers at NASA are working with General Motors on the project. The Robo-Globe grasps objects, reducing sprain on the hand. The glove can hold 15-20-lb objects but it only feels like you’re lifting 5-10 pounds. Sensors inside and outside the glove detect holding gestures. Synthetic tendons imitate how a real hand works. They pull the fingers into a gripping gesture around the object. This technology could be used in construction and manufacturing. The existing prototype weighs only 2 lb. That’s way lighter than Iron Man’s suit. It almost makes 15-20 pounds feel like 5-10 pounds.
