Kabir Humayun: Citing the unity shown by the students to politicians, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday asked political parties to forge a national unity to overcome the country’s prevailing ‘dangerous’ situation.
He came up with the remarks while speaking at a solidarity rally arranged by Udbhigna Nagorik Samaj (worried civil society) at the Jatiya Press Club.
“The fascist force is shattering everything. They’re trying to gag the media by attacking journalists. The students have showed us the state is in need of repair,” he said.
The BNP leader further said, “It’ll be very difficult to get rid of the country’s current dangerous situation without a national unity. The students have opened our eyes. Their movement has shaken all of us. Our boys have brought a scope for us to get united,” the BNP leader said.
Fakhrul said it is now the responsibility of all the political parties to play a role for the nation by responding to the call for forging a national unity.
When asked about a case filed against him and two other BNP leaders for allegedly conspiring against the state instigating students, he said now cases are not a problem for him as he has been facing 86 cases. “Even, our some leaders are facing 150-200 cases. It won’t be possible to resist our voice by filing cases.’
