Serve country selflessly, PM to new Army officers
On December 27, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the Bangladesh Army’s newly commissioned members to serve the country without being selfish. She mentioned, “Your first and foremost vow will be to protect the country’s independence and sovereignty even with the supreme sacrifice. You’ll have to stand beside people and serve the country selflessly,” at the President Parade marking the commissioning of the cadets of 75th BMA Long Course at Bangladesh Military Academy Parade Ground in Bhatiari. She also added that the Bangladesh army is a lot different than it was a decade back. She believes the current Army is much more developed because of their access to technology. In 1974 to build the Army as a strong and trained force noting that the Father of Nation framed the Defence Policy, they have prepared Forces Goal-2030 following the foresighted defence policy framed by the Father of Nation. It was a memorable day for Bangladesh Military Academy as the cadets are going to be commissioned as lieutenants on completion of training. Bangladesh Army’s role in UN peacekeeping missions is known worldwide successfully. They work in various places such as setting up shelters for the Rohingyas. The Prime Minister also distributed awards among the best cadets. Many important individuals were present such as ministers and parliament members. At the event, a total of 350 cadets were present where three hundred forty three were Bangladeshis, five Palestinians and two Sri Lankans got commission. Battalion Senior Under Officer Sadmanur Rahman is the best all-round cadet in the 75th BMA Long Course, received the ‘Sword of Honour’ and obtained ‘Army Chief Gold Medal’ for getting the highest standard in the military subjects. –Source: United News of Bangladesh.
