Second day of Chobi Mela

The 10th edition of Chobi Mela, one of the most prestigious photography festivals in Asia, began on Thursday with an opening rally from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, following an inauguration ceremony at Chhayanaut Auditorium.

In the second day(1st March) of this festival, one of the popular photo editor, OPC member and awards judge Robert Pledge delivered his keynote lecture, ‘Don McCullin-The Impossible Peace’ at Goethe-Institute. He talked about his war photography and images of urban strife. Another artist Taslima Akter and Gary Kight talked about visualizing conflict, moderated by Bangladeshi photojournalist and social activist Shahidul Alam. Photo editor Monica Allende shed light on visual narratives across platforms.
The festival will continue until March 9 while registration remains open every day for all.
Thirty-three exhibitions with works of 44 artists spanning from 21 countries will be featured during the event.
Eight workshops by prominent photo practitioners from around the world will be hosted covering a variety of topics. All venues of the 10th edition of the festival are situated in Dhanmondi.
