Sejuti Mourin: The Sup-reme Court has set July 2 to decide whether uphold the bail granted to BNP chief Khaleda Zia in the murder case over the 2015 petrol bombing of a bus in Cumilla’s Chauddagram.
A four-member appellate bench led by the Chief Justice set the date yesterday after hearing a state petition to appeal the bail granted by the High Court.
The court will also hear the state’s appeal against the bail on Monday.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state during the hearing.
Mohammad Ali, Khandker Mahbub Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Zainul Abedin and Mahbub Uddin Khokon represented Khaleda Zia.
Eight people were killed in the arson attack on a bus in Cumilla’s Chauddagram during protests by BNP-Jamaat alliance men on Feb 3, 2015. Two cases were launched over the incident – one for the killings and the other for the use of explosives as police named Khaleda as the instigator of the attack.
