Nypost: The annual fan extravaganza known as Comic-Con was officially canceled Friday due to the coronavirus lockdown. The summer event was scheduled for July 23 to 26 at the San Diego Convention Center, potentially drawing 130,000 visitors from all over the world. The spread of COVID-19 has caused worldwide shutdowns and cancellations, with many states issuing orders to shelter in place and only allowing essential businesses to operate. On the cultural front, derailed events include everything from Burning Man and the NBA season to Hollywood film productions and NYC’s Shakespeare in the Park.
The Javits Center, where New York Comic-Con is scheduled for October 8 to 11, has for now been turned into a temporary hospital.
