Letters were sent to all the field officers of Election Commission, asking for suggestions regarding the Public Representative Laws on 29 May. EC has decided to revise all the regarding laws upon their advices. In order to, make the electoral laws more timely-suitable for the upcoming parliamentary election and in the future, said Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam.
Making a central decision with few administrative minds will not be fruitful nationwide. Therefore, senior officers and local EC employees will be called to pitch in their thoughts & suggestions again while revising the existing laws, Kabita Khanam added. EC HQ also received several of such requests from their filed operators.
Most important suggestions that are being looked upon are, appointing armed-forces in law-enforcement units during the election process, banning the individual (without party banner) contesting & prioritizing the EC officers for the Returning Officer post at local elections.
Some of the other necessary demands are, online-method for candidacy nomination declaration, increasing of registration fees for political parties, stricter punishments & regulations for the violation of electoral behavioral conducts, contesting-candidate debates in the presence of EC and decreasing of voting-centers etc.
