Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) is trying to bump the electricity pricing by proving some virtual shortages. While, it should actually be decreased, claimed fuel resources advisor of Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Prof. Shamsul Alam. At the ‘Proposal for Decreasing Electricity Price’ event by CAB, arranged at the Bidyut Bhaban, on yesterday. Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid was present at the even as well.
CAB presented 15 step proposal to BPDB. That, demanded to maximize the production of low-cost electricity, and minimize the high-cost electricity production. This strategy alone, could shift the condition & yield profit for the power sector. Meantime, CAB criticized arbitrary decision makings of BPDB related to this issue. Since, global market rate of fuel-oil has also decreased. Electricity price should coordinate with it, & decrease as well. Authorities should stop putting those extra efforts, every time a price-increasing proposal comes along. Rather, these should be handled logically, suggested former care-taker government’s fuel resources advisor Dr. M Tamim.
