In the last 47 years, Bangladesh has come across a whole new political situation which has been repeatedly intersected, been under Military rule as well as Caretaker Government’s. In the face of protests, sometimes elections were selective or rigged and also changed through neutral elections which is why Syed Abul Maksud; Bangladeshi journalist, columnist, research scholar, essayist, and writer thinks that it is not possible to predict the future of Bangladesh’s politics till 2025. In an interview conducted by Lipi Parvin, Syed Abul Maksud said that the future of Bangladesh’s politics has to be forecasted in the context of the past because the people of the country are trapped between the ongoing tension of the two parties- Awami League and BNP. The hatred and animosity between the two parties has hampered the normal political practice. Besides, democratic institutions have become ineffective and constitutional organizations are not doing their duties properly, due to wide grouping. Syed Abul Maksud also said that if the next election is not fair and neutral then politics in Bangladesh will be completely uncertain. The Government formed will be impermanent and too weak to protect the interests of the country. Political leadership can protect the nation. It is difficult to develop a bright future depending on the current political situation but Syed Abul Maksud thinks that new leadership will be formed in the future even if it’s good or bad.
