Professor Dr. Mijanur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, Jagannath University: I think that the initial probe report on the committee formed over quota reformation process has to be sent to the prime minister. In the last one decade, only 9% out of 30% quota meant for the freedom fighter category has been fulfilled, while the rest quota was covered by candidates selected based on their merit. The trend will keep going on and the matter has to be clearly informed to all.
The protester is meant for reformation of the freedom fighters’ quota. As such, this is a movement for reforming freedom fighters’ quota, but it, in reality, is already reformed. A psychological battle is going on over the matter. Some people think that freedom fighters are taking up all jobs, depriving them. This psychological conflict has to stop.
Those claiming themselves to be brilliant have to find a job that suits him. Bangladesh has jobs for bright candidates. As many as six lakh foreigners are employed in Bangladesh and local candidates can try replacing them.
