Usage variety of plastic products are gaining more & more popularity throughout Bangladesh and abroad. Workmen are more skilled and make up 12 lacs labor positions. Their hardship is earning Bangladesh 3000 crores taka in the state treasury each year. Also, after fulfilling the national demands, 8000 crores taka worth products are being imported each year. That makes Bangladesh is the 12th international plastic-product supplier.

But low import taxes encouraging traders to collect more plastic-products from India, Thailand & China etc. Even better quality Bangladeshi products are failing to shine at the same price.

Pointing such facts, entrepreneurs of this sector are urging & demanding the government to, exclude machine-ridge import tax, set raw-material import tax to 3% and increase the import tax for plastic products, in the upcoming 2017-18 Budget. An Industrial City for plastic product is another great need. That might open ways for bigger deals.

Experts advises, the government should rethink about plastic product usage and may reduce the environmental harm through controlled recycling, at the same time. Economists also believe that, with proper care this sector may create countless work positions.
