The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has recovered stolen construction materials of the Padma Bridge project in a raid yesterday from Munshiganj district.
During the raid the elite force also nabbed seven suspected members of a thief gang, reported the Daily Star.
RAB-11, CPC-1 Commander police superintendent M Enayet Hossain Mannan said the drive was conducted in Lauhajang upazila, Mawa and its adjoining areas from 8pm on Wednesday till 1am on Thursday.
They RAB members seized two sea boats, 25 tons rod, 500 liter fuel oil, angles, other construction materials, along with Tk 20,000 in cash.
Nevertheless, the RAB Commander revealed that they are still investigating and gathering information about the detainees, promising that if anyone was found innocent they would be freed.
He said that army personnel involved in the construction works on March 3 alleged that a racket engaged in pilfering the construction materials.
