Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Annisul Huq on Thursday said over 300,000 saplings will be planted in the DNCC area within next three years to turn the city green. “We’ll plant 325,000 plants within next three years. We have already formed a committee, headed by Bishwa Sahitya Kendra chairman Abdullah Abu Sayeed to do so,” he said, while addressing a function jointly arranged by DNCC and Bangladesh University at Krishibid Institution auditorium in the capital on Thursday. Annisul Huq said the DNCC is also going to take a project to introduce rooftop gardening on the buildings of the city. Urging the owners of old buildings of the city to paint their buildings, he warned that if they do not freshly paint their buildings, the city corporation will be tough against them and will suspend utility services to these buildings.
