Kiron Sharma, from Chattogram: Orbis International, a flying eye hospital, has been providing treatment, medicine and treatment materials, including glasses, to locals of Cox’s Bazar and Rohingya refugees for free.
It is also operating upon the people with cataract probleam, helping them get back clear eyesight. The free services were delivered in Baitush Sharaf Hospital on Monday. Prof Dr Farhad Hossain, head of pediatric department of National Eye Science Institute and Hospital, and Prof Dr Saifuddin Ahmed of Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Eye Hospital and Training Institute in Gopalganj, inspected the medical camp. They duo praised Orbis International for the treatment being provided among the people in South Chattogram, the ethnic groups of the Chattogram Hill Tract and those living in the refugee camps at Teknaf and Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar.
They also asked the doctors, hospital staff and patients about the project called Qatar Creative Vision Expanding Eye Care in Southeast Bangladesh.
Mohammad Alauddin, director of programmes in Bangladesh of the global eye hospital, SM Sirajul Islam, general secretary of the Cox’s Bazar hospital and his deputy SM Kalam Uddin, among others, were present then.
