Professor Mustafizur Rahman speaks to DOT
Every year nearly 21 lakh young people compete into active job market for change in their life.
However, the job market can absorb only 13 lakh unemployed youths in Bangladesh, said Dr Mustafizur Rahman.
In absence of employment opportunities, eight lakh people fail to enter the job market and falls through the cracks.
The government has adopted several projects to reduce unemployment gap. It is expected that more skilled youths will compete in the job market.
It is interesting that higher educated people are more unemployed than under graduate youths.
As a cushion to turn the critical situation of unemployment, the commercial banks will provide loans to unemployed youths. The olive branch by the banks will encourage new entrepreneurs which will drive them away from the curse unemployment.
