Desk Report: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday warned of taking legal actions if any official of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) is found responsible for tarnishing its image, reports The Daily Star.
“I want a corruption-free BRTA,” Obaidul Quader said while exchanging views at a meeting with the BRTA officials at its headquarters in Banani around 12:30 pm, our correspondent reports from the spot.
“I am ordering those, who might be responsible for damaging the reputation of BRTA, to rectify themselves. Otherwise, legal actions will be taken against them” the minister said.
There was a time when fitness papers of a vehicle could be collected from the office without bringing the vehicle itself but the scenario is changed a little at present, Quader said.
The minister also implored everybody to work towards building a harassment- and middlemen-free BRTA.
“I do not want to see any middlemen inside BRTA office while visiting here,” Obaidul said adding that the middlemen are responsible for damaging the reputation of the organisation.
